The Rocks

In memoriam

In the north western corner of Ocean Park are two large rocks.  They were placed there when the ground was being developed to create a spot where the Shamrock Family could remember those Shamrocks who have died and gone to Rugby heaven.  It is a unique memorial very few football clubs have such a space.  Any deceased player, coach, manager, committee member or club official qualifies for the right to have their name recorded in perpetuity as a member of the Woonona Shamrocks Family.

We remember the following members of the Shamrock Family
whose names currently appear on the “Rocks”:

Billy Bonzer (Player), Jimmy Butcher (Canteen Manager), Tommy Chin (Strapper), Ken Cole (Vice-President), Charles ‘Snow’ Davis (Ball boy), Charles ‘Chilla’ Downie (Player), Chris ‘Fingers’ Filan (Player), Neil ‘Lips’ Gilmore (Player), Gary ‘Curly’ Haines (Player), Richard ‘Tricky Dicky’ Hasler (Player/Coach), Gary ‘Hawkeye’ Hawkins (Player), Bob Hutton (President), Barbara Hutton (Goldfinch) (Supporter), John Higgins (Team Manager), Ian ‘Tibby’ Jones (Player), Peter Kershaw (Player), Ron Lunney (Strapper), Kieran ‘Budda’ Love (Player/Coach), Robbie Meijer (Coach/Player), Des McMullen (Supporter), Paul ‘Morgo’ Morgan (Player), Ronald ‘Nugget’ Nipperess (Player), Bob Nutt (Strapper/Selector), Keith ‘Dabbler’ Perkins (Player, Bude), Paul ‘Peto’ Peterson (Player), Dexter Porter (Coach), Rob ‘Sausage’ Sasagi (Player), Stuart ‘Goog’ Saunders (Player), Marilyn ‘Maz’ Saywell (Canteen Manager), John Semkin (Player), Sue Smith (Juniors President), Stuart ‘Mule’ Stoneham (Player), Phil Tolhurst (Supporter), Gary ‘Gaz’ Walker (Player), John ‘Pearshape’ Walker (Player), Stephen Whitehead (President), Fred ‘Stonedust’ Wilson Player), Gary ‘Tracker’ Woods (Player).
