Campbelltown Match Report

There were only enough players for 2 grades this week, but we had solid numbers on the bench. The weather was perfect and the ground in good shape.

Second grade yet again got away to a quick start with a try in the corner, unconverted. The game was a free-flowing affair with both sides evenly matched on the field and on score board. Shamies scored first in the second half and lead 17 to 12 for most of the game. Then in the last 3 minutes of the game Campbelltown scored next to the post and converted.

Full time Shamrocks 17 to Campbelltown 19

From the kick off Campbelltown first grade looked the better team, on the day. They kept possession by constantly monstering Shamrocks in and around the breakdown. Campbelltown kept the score board ticking over and built a handy lead 36 to 13 in the second half, then Shamrocks started a come-back. Shamies fitness was starting to pay dividends. Shamies scored an unconverted try followed by a penalty try, (when a Campbelltown player reached around the Shamies player, in an in-goal chase for the ball, and slapped it dead, a rugby league thing). Unfortunately the Shamrocks come-back was too late. In the end Campbelltown were the better team on this day.
